Experience, a Little History, and a Promise.
Jay Gitomer Communications is a woman-owned sole-proprietorship targeting small to mid-sized businesses that wish to conceive or enhance their digital and print communications. I have over 14 years of experience in marketing communications and technical writing with an emphasis on high-tech industries. My services include writing and editing for both print and electronic publications, creating technical documentation and corporate style guides, lecturing on technical topics, and advising clients on community development and other aspects of web management and marketing. I have written user documentation for the New Israel Fund, performed information architecture for Emaginemedia and getOrganized, Inc., written or edited more than fifty business and technical reports for Faulkner Information Services, consulted on usability for SearchEdge, Inc. and Fit4All.com, written and edited consumer-oriented articles for PetPlanet.com, Boating.com, and Iagora, and lectured on web performance issues for Telcordia. Previously, I was the Manager of Corporate Internet Development for USinternetworking, the largest Internet start-up of 1998. In that position, my primary challenge was to deliver a series of shifting messages as the goals of the business developed. I achieved it by tailoring content and functions to support the corporate position on an ongoing basis and by reusing content as creatively as possible. I was responsible for all aspects of the corporate website, which was the spearhead for all marketing efforts corporate-wide, and for the development of web-based marketing applications such as sales blitzes, event planning automation and public relations management systems. I was initially engaged as a writer on that site, and soon became Senior Editor. A short time later I was promoted to Senior Producer, overseeing the development and management of the corporate site, as well as the corporate intranet and numerous customer sites, before finally becoming Manager. In these progressive capacities, I became skilled in all aspects of digital communications, from the creative conception to the nitty-gritty details of server usage.Prior to that, I was the Electronic Marketing Programs Manager, Federal Region for Silicon Graphics, a major UNIX workstation manufacturer. In this role, I was responsible for creating an online presence for the Silicon Graphics Federal Marketing Division and performing tactical marketing for the company's largest sales region. At this time, I also developed sites promoting trade shows on an as-needed basis, designed and built two intranets, and created brochures, posters and other print media for the department. I am an experienced writer with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Writing from Sarah Lawrence College and a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from New York University. I am a published author, an experienced editor and a trained proofreader. I also attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Philadelphia College of Art. This background has provided me with a strong foundation as a web communicator, able to hone a written message and reinforce that message with the use of graphics and interactivity. My years in corporate marketing have provided me with a sound comprehension of business concepts, strategies and positioning. When you commission Jay Gitomer Communications to craft your business and technical messages, you are getting experience, reliability and, above all, a commitment to your success. My goal is to provide quality results that will keep you coming back again and again. Being a small business, I can give you the attention that you need to achieve your goals and can get to know your business almost as well as your full-time staff. That saves you money in the long run, because you don't have to re-orient a new project manager each time you engage me. I am the only project manager -- I am 100% accountable to you.
